Cold Weather Prep Essentials for Your Home

The cold Cleveland winter is finally here and the question is, are you ready?

We have dedicated our business to helping homeowners when they need it most, and it’s vital for you to protect your home before the blizzards come.

Here are some easy steps to ensure your property (and family) stay safe this winter.

  1. Shovel all walkways completely - Even a light dusting of snow can cause cracks to form in your driveway and sidewalks, making summer less fun and more dangerous when your children get out those bikes.

  2. Use salt consistently to manage ice - With the recent mix of rain and then freezing cold, ice has already formed on those stairways and walkways, creating a slippery and dangerous path. We recommend using salt or sand to protect from slips and falls. It’s also important to regularly manage that ice as the freeze-thaw cycle can wreak havoc on your concrete, creating large crack and deep pits.

  3. Trim your trees - Any large branch can create massive damage during a storm. All too often we have seen a roof and the side of a house completely destroyed from a fallen tree or large branches. Making sure your trees are properly trimmed and that the branches hanging are healthy and strong is essential.

  4. Clean your gutters - It’s an easy one to miss, as you don’t often see the damage from clogged gutters until it’s too late. Fallen leaves and debris can easily build up from one season, making your gutters ineffective when it comes to keeping fallen snow and hail off your roof. With filled gutters, all winter elements will remain on your roof, building up until the inevitable leak happens.

Rest assured we are ready to help during all of your winter emergencies.
